2010-05-01 --- FiSEC introduces "FM PONy" - a next-generation mobile FTTx fiber monitor

FiSEC FM PONy was designed to perform low-cost on-demand monitoring and real-time fault detection and localization in FTTx PON networks. FM PONy is a very small mobile unit. It is normally connected to a notebook computer via USB port.

FM PONy Hardware Components
  • embedded signal-processing unit based on new C-OTDR technology
  • low energy laser (1mW)
  • USB-2.0 port
  • optical FC/APC connector

  • Measuring wave length:  1625 nm (or any other suitable pre-defined wavelength)
  • Line testing on measurement port not interfering with data transmission
  • Box Size:   14,5cm  x  8,9cm  x  2,5cm
  • Data communication: via USB
  • Power supply:   via USB
  • Fault localization range in feed fiber lines: up to 25 km
  • Fault localization accuracy:   down to +/-1.25 m
  • Termination detection accuracy:  down to +/-1.25 m
  • Time for fingerprint creation:  5 min (64 branches)
